Mike Neale
Statistical Geneticist
Market Leading Salary, Excellent Prospects
Gemini Research is a rapidly evolving, UK-based biotechnology company with
a focus on discovering genes that influence the development of common,
chronic diseases.
Together with our collaborators in the UK, Australia and elsewhere, we are
building extensive data collections that provide us with a resource that
can be mined and which make a major contribution to the gene discovery
process. An extensive clinical, laboratory, IT and bioinformatics resource
has been set up within Gemini to develop the systems necessary to enable,
support and exploit this activity.
We are now in the process of building a team of statisticians who will
have responsibility for analysing, reporting on and advising about our
genetic and phenotypic data.
A new position has been created in this group to work with our team of
expert consultants to apply leading edge analytical techniques to the
analysis of our data. This will encompass Monte Carlo simulation, variance
component analysis, genome scanning for QTLs, linkage and association
analysis (TDT and derivatives) and the modelling of clustered observations
in twins.
You will have a first degree in the sciences or statistics and
postgraduate experience in the analysis of human genetic data using at
least one of the above techniques. A PhD in this area, while not strictly
necessary, would be a distinct advantage. Programming experience, in any
language, as well as familiarity with Unix, would be highly desirable.
In return, Gemini offer you a market leading benefits package, with
excellent prospects of growth and a share in the future of the company.
