Assistant-professor / Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Genetic research on 
psychiatric disorders at the Faculty of Medicine, Laval University / 
Centre de Recherche Université Laval Robert-Giffard (CRULRG)

A position is opened at the level of Assistant-professor / Tier 2 Canada 
Research Chair  (www.chaires.gc.ca/web/home_e.asp) for an outstanding 
young scientist in the field of Genetic research on psychiatric disorders 
at the Faculty of Medicine, Laval University in Quebec City, Canada. 
Candidates should hold an MD or a PhD with appropriate research expertise 
in genetic epidemiology, statistical genetics and/or molecular genetic 
studies of psychiatric disorders (candidates with pertinent expertise on 
other complex disorders will be considered as well). The successful 
candidate will be expected to develop a strong externally funded research 
program, and to participate in the teaching and supervision of graduate

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF TWIN AND FAMILY STUDIES, DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY,
THE UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO:

The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Behavioral Geneticist with
expertise in twin and family study methodology to be the Associate
Director of the Departments Twin and Family Studies Program.
Responsibilities include oversight of selected Twin and Family Studies in
the Department and development of new studies in the area of behavioral
genetics, particularly in regards to personality, and other psychiatric,
disorders.  The Departments Twin Program is a medium-sized
population-based twin program of adults (aged in the third to fifth decade
of life) and represents an exciting resource for research, especially in
regards to in-person assessment and laboratory-based studies. Involvement
in the Departments teaching program is expected as appropriate to the
candidate.  Successful candidates will enter the Tenure or Clinical
Scholar Track at the appropriate academic rank and are expected to develop
an academic focus and, eventually, a program of funded research.  
Research experience in conducting twin and family-related studies, expert
knowledge of relevant statistical methodologies, and a record of

Tenure track position in Genetic Epidemiology / Behavior Genetics The
Georgia Prevention Institute, a unit of the Department of Pediatrics at
the Medical College of Georgia, is seeking applicants for a tenure track
investigator at the assistant, associate or full professor level, with
expertise in genetic epidemiology and/or behavioral genetics.  The
successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of fourteen
faculty with expertise in genetic epidemiology, molecular biology,
physiology, cardiology, psychology, exercise physiology, nutrition,
community intervention and biostatistics.  The Georgia Prevention
Institute conducts multiple NIH-funded projects evaluating bio-behavioral
antecedents and prevention of cardiovascular diseases, Type 2 diabetes,
and obesity beginning in childhood.  The successful candidate will
collaborate with these investigators in designing and analyzing
genetically informative studies, such as studies of gene-environment
interaction, gene association, linkage and gene expression. Experience in
the analysis of twin studies or longitudinal data would be a plus.
Candidates should be conversant in the use of genetic statistical software
and analysis techniques relevant for these type of studies, and have the
ability to supervise and train postdocs. The candidate will have a
doctoral degree in Behavior Genetics, Genetic Epidemiology or related
field.

Behavioral Genetics: Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in Statistical Genetics

The Institute for Behavioral Genetics at the University of Colorado,
Boulder, seeks to recruit an expert in statistical genetics. We invite

Research Specialist: Behavior of Guide and Service Dogs

The Center for the Interaction of Animals & Society at the University
of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for
the position of Research Specialist to coordinate and conduct a series
of multi-agency projects aimed at developing, refining and validating
measures of behavior/temperament in guide and service dogs. The
eventual goal of the study will be explore the genetic basis for these
phenotypic traits. Applicants should have at least a Master?s degree
and 2-3 years research experience in animal behavior, behavioral
epidemiology and/or behavioral genetics, as well as superior

Postdoctoral Positions Available at Washington University in St. Louis

NIMH supported postdoctoral fellowships are available in the Department of
Psychiatry at Washington University in St. Louis in the area of behavioral
and statistical genetics.  Trainees will have the opportunity to work with
a multidisciplinary team consisting of psychologists, psychiatrists,
geneticists, and biostatisticians on several projects aimed at
characterizing genetic and environmental influences contributing to the
risk for alcohol dependence and related disorders, such as smoking,
externalizing disorders, and drug use, in both children and adults.
Trainees will have the opportunity to work on population-based,
longitudinal twin projects, and to work on linkage and association
analyses aimed at gene identification.  Specific training programs can be

TENURE-TRACK POSITION IN PHARMACOLOGY & TOXICOLOGY

The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology and the Institute for
Psychiatric and Behavioral Genetics at Virginia Commonwealth University

genetics of alcohol/drug use and abuse in model organisms, including

Postdoctoral Research Positions in
Genetics and Developmental Psychopathology

The University of Minnesota is happy to announce the availability of up to
two NIMH-funded postdoctoral research associate positions in the
Department of Psychology. These positions offer the opportunity for
training in psychopathology and personality research, behavioral genetics,
and developmental methods and to be involved with an active group of
researchers taking biological approaches to the study of psychopathology
and personalilty. Postdoctoral associates will work closely with one or
more of the program's faculty to develop a research and training program
that takes advantage of the existence of numerous ongoing funded projects.
A wide range of expertise in both methodological (e.g., psychophysiology,
brain imaging, quantitative genetics, molecular genetics, longitudinal
methods), and substantive (e.g., ADHD, externalizing psychopathology,
substance use disorders, depression, anxiety disorders, personality) areas
of research exists among program faculty.

These positions come with a good benefit package and the standard NIH
training stipend. Applicants should have or soon expect to complete their
Ph.D. degree in psychology or a related discipline, but are not expected
to necessarily have specific expertise in genetics, psychopathology,

    Studies of the behavioral genetics of clinical psychiatric disorders

The Substance Abuse Division in the Department of Psychiatry at the
University of Michigan invites applications for a  position on an NIH
funded training grant for research training at the interface between
genetic and longitudinal family studies.  The successful applicant will
contribute to an ongoing effort to analyze genetically a phenotypically
well-characterized set of 300 + families that has been studied
longitudinally for almost two decades.  The successful applicant should
have expertise in genetics and an interest in obtaining training in
developmental issues in psychopathology; or expertise in developmental
psychopathology and an interest in obtaining training in genetics.  This
position offers a rich environment in which to collaborate with
established investigators in Psychiatry, Human Genetics, Psychology,
Statistics, and Developmental Analysis.  It is common for work in this

POST-DOCTORAL POSITIONS in MOLECULAR GENETICS OF ALCOHOLISM at the
Virginia Institute for Psychiatric and Behavioral Genetics
                                                                                
We are seeking two post-doctoral candidates to work on the Irish Study
of the Genetics of Alcoholism.  The sample includes >600 affected
sibling pairs with alcohol dependence plus parents, and >1000
community controls collected in Ireland. We recently completed a 5 cM
genome scan and linkage analysis is just underway. We plan to hire two
individuals:  (1) A Molecular Geneticist who would supervise a
full-time technician on the routine laboratory work and take primary
responsibility for the organization and execution of the fine-mapping
work, candidate gene studies, and replication studies within this
sample and across samples.  (2)  A Statistical Geneticist to conduct
linkage, case-control and within-family association analyses.  The
statistical position also involves work on and the Irish Study of High
Density Schizophrenia Families (275 multiplex schizophrenia families,
>900 unrelated cases and >1000 community controls). Both positions
offer opportunities for collaboration, publication, and career

NIMH supported postdoctoral fellowships available in the Department of
Psychiatry at Washington University in St. Louis in the area of behavioral
and statistical genetics.  Trainees will have the opportunity to work with

geneticists, and biostatisticians on several projects aimed at
characterizing genetic and environmental influences contributing to the

The University of Minnesotas Department of Psychology invites applications 
for a post-doctoral research position in Psychophysiology with the 
Minnesota Twin Family Study, a longitudinal investigation of 2000 pairs of 
adolescent twins and their parents.

Responsibilities include: analysis and publication of psychophysiological 
data and supervision of psychophysiology data processing staff. Applicants 
must have completed a Ph.D. in psychology or related field by 8/15/2004 
and have experience with psychophysiology data analysis and publication. We
