MEETING INFORMATION

 

 

The 33rd Annual Meeting of the Behavior Genetics Association will be held at The Palmer House Hilton Hotel, Chicago, Illinois, USA.  Paper, poster and plenary sessions will be held throughout the day on the 26th, 27th, and 28th of June. The opening reception is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, June the 25th. The banquet will be held on Saturday the 28th.

 

The Palmer House Hilton Hotel

Located in the heart of Chicago's LOOP, The Palmer House Hilton is a landmark hotel that offers modern conveniences combined with over one hundred years of elegance. There are four restaurants, an enclosed shopping arcade, fitness center with steam room, sauna, and indoor pool.  It is located downtown near the Art Institute and theatres, and centrally located in the center of Chicago's business and entertainment district. Chicago is one of the world's greatest tourist destinations, with millions visiting each year to enjoy its architecture, museums, shopping, unique neighborhoods and city-sponsored festivals including the 23rd Annual Taste of Chicago from June 27 to July 6 and the 13th Annual Country Music Festival on June 28th and 29th.  Other visitor highlights include Farmers market, the Navy Pier, Sears Tower, and Broadway plays and other live theatre productions, as well as the Museum Campus - a scenic 57-acre lakefront park that connects three of Chicago's world-class institutions - the Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum, The Field Museum of science, environment and culture, and the John G. Shedd Aquarium.

 

Travel

Two local airports serve the greater Chicago area: 

 

O'HARE INT'L is 18 miles from the hotel with an approximate drive time of 35 to 60 minutes and MIDWAY is 12 miles from the hotel with an approximate drive time of 30 to 45 minutes.  Ground transportation is available from both airports via Bus Service at a typical minimum charge of USD 17.00 from O’Hare and USD 12.00 from Midway, limousine service, Super Shuttle, Subway/Rail at a typical minimum charge of USD 1.50 from either airport, or by taxi, typical minimum charge of USD 35.00 from O’Hare and USD 25.00 from Midway.

 

If you drive to the hotel, the Daily Parking Charge is USD 23.00 and Valet Parking Charge is USD 31.00.

Accommodations

A block of rooms has been set aside for this meeting. Room rates in USD, excluding local taxes and fees (currently 14.9%), are as follows:

 

Single:  $140; Double:  $160; Triple:  $180; Quad:  $200

 

Reservations must be made by May 15th, 2003. After May 15th, reservations will be accepted based upon availability.

 

Important Room Reservation Note: New this year, the local meeting host will make all room reservations.  Please complete the room reservation information on the BGA registration form and submit prior to May 15th in order to secure your room reservation.
