Post-doc developing methods for the design and replication of genomewide association studies
We are inviting applications for a postdoctoral position in statistical genetics. The successful applicant will collaborate with statisticians and geneticists to develop novel methods to design adaptive multistage genome-wide association studies in a cost-effective way and optimize subsequent replication efforts. He or she will also apply and test these methods using data from several genome-wide association studies.
Ideal candidates will have a Ph.D. in statistics, genetics, bioinformatics, or related fields and should have substantial computational expertise. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Experience with R and/or C++ is a plus.
The post-doc will work with Drs Edwin van den Oord and Jozsef Bukszar at the Center for Biomarker Research and Personalized Medicine at Medical College / Virginia Institute for Psychiatric and Behavioral Genetics at Virginia Commonwealth University. In addition, we envision interactions with several external collaborators. The position is initially for two years and offers ample opportunities for publishing articles and career development.
