Post doc, Karolinska Institutet
Post-doctoral scholarship position in behavior genetics of musical expertise
A post-doctoral scholarship position for research studies in the behavior neurogenetics of musical expertise is available at Karolinska Institutet. We are investigating associations between musical training, expert performance, personality, cognitive ability and health using Internet based data collection from twin cohorts from the Swedish Twin Registry. Later studies will involve structural and functional neuroimaging of selected subsamples of twins. The length of the appointment is 2 years, depending on progress.
We are looking for a productive and independent candidate with a high level of expertise in statistical analyses and modelling of twin data. Experience with neuropsychological research questions is a merit. The research will include unique opportunities to investigate gene-environment interactions in the acquisition of expert performance, and the associations between musical engagement and other variables. The project is a collaboration with research groups from Umeå University and Stockholm University, and is performed together with the Swedish Twin Registry at Karolinska Institutet, the largest registry of its kind in the world. The candidate will be part of a highly stimulating research environment that includes leading reseachers in neuroscience and behavior genetics at Karolinska Institutet.
Karolinska Institutet supports equal opportunities and strives for a more equal gender balance. We also value the qualities that ethnic and cultural diversity contribute to our activities.
