3 Years fixed term
------------------------------------------------------------

We would like to invite applications for the position of Postdoctoral
Research Worker with a range of skills including data management, analysis
of twin data, and writing of empirical papers. The successful candidate will
conduct Children of Twins (CoT) analyses using combined datasets of child
twin pairs and parent twin pairs funded by the Leverhulme Trust to Dr Thalia
Eley. The questions to be explored relate to the links between aspects of
parenting and child emotional development during adolescence.
The successful candidate will work as part of an active research team and
will collaborate with 3 international collaborators in Sweden & the USA. The
post-holder will undertake training in CoT analyses during visits with the
collaborators: Dr Jurgita Narusyte & Prof Paul Lichtenstein (Sweden) and
Prof Jenae Neiderhiser (US), and will then need to work relatively
autonomously. The applicant will be expected to write and contribute to the
writing of multiple papers each year. Over-all supervision will be provided
by Dr Thalia Eley.
It is essential that the successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or
equivalent in which they undertook analysis of large twin datasets. Relevant
data management skills (managing and combining of large complex datasets)
are also essential, as is an interest in developing complex twin models and
translating twin models from Mx into OpenMx. The candidate should
demonstrate an interest in communicating messages from genetic research to a
wide audience experience with writing and publishing papers of high
scientific standards.
Experience working with OpenMX is desirable, but someone trained only in Mx
is acceptable.
