MULTIPLE POSITIONS available in the areas of Biostatistics and Epidemiology
HPER is forming the necessary prerequisites to transition to an accredited school of public health. The school invites nominations and applications for the following multiple tenure/tenure-track positions in the newly developing Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics:
FULL PROFESSOR AND CHAIR: The Chair will be instrumental in developing the department and will provide leadership for research, teaching, and service in the department’s professional disciplines. An established record in funded scientific research is essential along with the capacity to mentor junior faculty regarding tenure and promotion. The successful candidate must desire to help organize and build a cohesive department that offers both M.P.H. and Ph.D. degrees in Epidemiology and an M.P.H. degree in Biostatistics. The Chair is expected to manage departmental budgets, secure financial resources to meet program objectives; and facilitate interaction among faculty, staff, students, and alumni. The successful candidate will work closely with the Dean to further the School’s goals and research mission.
Candidates for the position must hold a doctoral degree in Epidemiology or Biostatistics from an accredited school of public health or related educational institution; have several years of funded research in their discipline, a record of demonstrated scholarly achievement, an ability to collaborate across disciplines, significant administrative experience, and national/international professional engagement sufficient to warrant tenured Full Professor rank. Salary is competitive depending upon qualifications and experience.

MULTIPLE POSITIONS AVAILABLE in the two areas represented in this department; BIOSTATISTICS and EPIDEMIOLOGY: ASSISTANT – ASSOCIATE – FULL PROFESSOR POSITIONS. The successful candidates will provide evidence of the potential to secure funded research grants, conduct research, write for peer reviewed scholarly publications, and teach undergraduate and graduate classes in the candidates’ specified area of expertise. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in at least one of the professional disciplines (biostatistics or epidemiology) from an accredited school of public health, school of medicine or related educational institution, a record demonstrating the potential for significant scholarly achievement, and an ability to collaborate with others. The anticipated hire date for these 10-month appointments is August 1, 2012. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled. THE SCHOOL OF HEALTH, PHYSICAL EDUCATION, AND RECREATION (HPER) was established at Indiana University in 1946 and is comprised of the Department of Applied Health Science, the Department of Environmental Health, the Department of Kinesiology, the Department of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Studies, and the Division of Recreational Sports. There are approximately 2,100 students in the School. This includes over 1,750 undergraduate students, and more than 350 graduate students, with over 70 pursuing the doctorate.
