RESEARCH ASSOCIATE and POST DOCTORAL POSITIONS AVAILABLE in PREVENTION and GENE-ENVIRONMENT INTERACTION RESEARCH
The Prevention Research Center and Department of Human Development and
Family Studies of The Pennsylvania State University announce the availability of multiple positions, including two research associate positions and a post-doctoral scholar. The research associate positions are in the area of community and family prevention research and are available immediately. These positions will offer the opportunity for involvement in several innovative research projects being conducted by Drs. Mark Feinberg and collaborators see projects listed.
Applications are invited from individuals who are interested in: (A) A position as a data analyst and (B) A position combining some data analyst responsibilities with the opportunity to develop and serve as lead-author on papers utilizing available data sets. Applicants who would like to pursue the second type of position should have a background in child/adolescent development, family research, and/or community risk and prevention, as well as possess strong
conceptualization and writing skills. Such an individual will be supported in developing an independent line of investigation.
The post-doctoral position is attached to a NIDA-funded study examining genetic influences on substance use prevention led by Dr. Bo Cleveland and Dr. David Vandenbergh, in collaboration with Drs. Mark Feinberg, Jenae Neiderhiser, and Mark Greenberg. The work will involve examining the extent to which candidate genes condition the impact of interventions on substance use and investigating the interplay between specific genes and family and peer contextual processes as they contribute to substance use from adolescence to young adulthood. This individual will work with Dr. Cleveland and Dr. Vandenbergh, as well as the rest of the research team, on analyzing data and developing manuscripts for publication. Applicants should have research training in adolescent risk behaviors and family and peer contexts, and a strong interest in how these outcomes and contexts transact with genetic influences. This post-doctoral position is scheduled to begin in June 2012.
Applicants to all positions should have relevant research experience, strong statistical skills, and a capacity to work closely with others.
