Postdoctoral Fellow in Single-Nucleus Studies of Psychiatric Disorders

The Center for Biomarker Research and Precision Medicine (BPM, https://bpm.pharmacy.vcu.edu/) at Virginia Commonwealth University is searching for a motivated research fellow to join our team. Our research program aims to alleviate the tremendous personal, familial, and societal burden of mental illness and substance use disorders by using state-of-the-art technologies to identify molecular markers that can be used to develop new medications. We are conducting multiple large-scale single-nucleus transcriptomic studies using human samples to better understand the biological causes of disorders such as autism, alcohol use disorder, schizophrenia, and suicide, and to identify new drug targets.
We seek a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow to perform analyses using our existing pipelines and to draft manuscripts for publication in leading scientific journals. This highly multidisciplinary and collaborative project involves both local and external partners. The position is initially for two years and provides excellent opportunities for publishing research articles and advancing career development.
