Within-family G by between-school E for mental health during covid

Daniel Gustavson | Published on 2/11/2026
The University of Oslo is recruiting a Researcher for a project on post-pandemic youth mental health, hosted at PROMENTA Research Center. The role is well suited for an early-stage researcher who wants hands-on experience with large samples of genotyped families—especially MoBa Genetics (n=200K) genotyped trios—combined with rich Norwegian registry linkages. You will work in an interdisciplinary environment focused on understanding heterogeneity in mental-health outcomes following COVID-19, and on identifying risk and resilience factors across young people and their families.

Position:

Researcher in Post-Pandemic Youth Mental Health

Host:
PROMENTA Research Center, Department of Psychology, University of Oslo (UiO), Oslo, Norway.

Project focus:
The project investigates mental health among young people during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, with attention to differences across contexts and groups and to mechanisms of risk and resilience.

Why this is a strong fit for genetics-oriented early-career researchers:
This opportunity is particularly relevant if you want to:
• Work with SNP-based analyses in population data and family-based designs.
• Leverage MoBa Genetics genotyped trios and combine genetic information with high-quality longitudinal and registry-linked phenotypes in Norway.
• Contribute to research questions on mental-health trajectories and individual differences in vulnerability and resilience after major societal stressors.

Who should apply:
Applicants who are early in their research careers and are motivated to work with genetic SNP data, complex linked datasets, and modern statistical methods for psychiatric/psychological outcomes will find this role especially relevant.

Practical details:
• Application deadline: 5 March 2026.
• Employer/location: University of Oslo, Oslo, Norway.
